Intermediate First Aid is a comprehensive, skills-focused training program designed for individuals who need the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to medical and injury-related emergencies at home, in the workplace, or in the community. This course provides a strong foundation in life-support skills through a balanced mix of instruction, demonstration, hands-on practice, and scenario-based learning.
Learners develop the ability to recognize, assess, and manage a wide range of emergencies, including breathing problems, cardiac events, bleeding, shock, sudden medical conditions, and common injuries. The program includes CPR Level C and AED training, ensuring participants are prepared to act quickly and safely in time-sensitive situations.
This course meets or exceeds federal and most provincial/territorial workplace first-aid requirements and reflects the latest Canadian Consensus Guidelines on First Aid and CPR.
Duration & formats
- In-class training: about 16 hours, or
- Blended training: about 8 hours online plus 8 hours in-class practical
- Recertification: about 8 hours in-class, or 4 hours online plus 4 hours in-class practical
